A hot air balloon safari can be arranged as part of any safari itinerary; balloon safaris can be done at any time of the year.

A trip in a balloon gives you a wonderful opportunity to get an aerial view of the vast herds during the great migration on the open plains of the Serengeti National park, a unique experience of viewing wildlife from the air, and enables you to get stunning views of the amazing scenery in the Tarangire National park

Balloon safaris start early morning. You will be picked up from your lodge and taken to a site for balloon take off as the sun rises, climbing up to 1000 feet or more. Every balloon flight is different and it is impossible to predict what wildlife you might see. However you will get spectacular views of the sunrise, unique views of the landscape from the air, and the wonderful serenity of flying in a balloon. The flight time is 1 hour,

Balloon safari tips

  • We recommend you take as little as possible with you in the basket and to avoid the inconvenience of moving items and risk of any fragile items being damaged during landing
  • Remember to take your camera with you – the views are really magnificent from the air – and also consider taking binoculars.
