Selous, being one of the largest game reserves in the world – over four times the size of the Serengeti – is home to a huge number of animals. You can see cape buffalo, wildebeest, and elephants. Selous has the country’s largest African wild dog population. It is a wild and isolated place with few camps which makes for an exclusive safari and particular sense of adventure. Tanzania’s largest river (the Rufiji) flow through the Game Reserve accompanied by a network of channels, lagoons. These are home to crocodiles, hippopotamus, and great variety of birds around the swamps.
Selous is a difficult park to get to, but it rewards its visitors with its sheer size and the opportunity to explore its varied landscapes without ever having to bump into another human being.
